Game Specs:
You'll take control of Mega Man in his quest to discover the mystery of the
meteor's power and to stop Wily's evil plans. With seamless graphics and
flawless gameplay, you'll have help from Mega Man's buddies along the way
including Rush, Roll, Dr. Light and the
rest of the gang. The mysterious robot Duo, the alien robot Mega Man discovers
in the crash site, will help out along the way, but it'll be up to you to defeat
the eight new Robot
Masters and stop the "Evil Energy" pouring from the meteor's
power. Mega Man's rival Bass will be waiting for a final showdown, so you'll
need all the skill and strategy to make it through this tough game and to stop
Wily once and for all.
Story:
After Mega Man's previous quest saw the introduction of Bass & Treble, Dr.
Wily's new robotic rivals of Mega Man, the threat of Wily's world domination
plans intensified. Dr. Wily escaped during his previous battle against Mega Man
and has begun to build up his army again. Designing and constructing a new
secret castle hidden under the depths of a volcano, Wily began to formulate new
plans for the destruction of Mega Man. While out on patrol for Mega Man, Bass
finds him and a battle ensues. As always, Bass' overconfidence allows Mega Man
to overcome him, but little did either of them know that an event was occurring
in outer space that would prove to be very dangerous for both of them. Far off
in space away from Earth, two mysterious robots were also locked in battle, with
one of the combatants losing fast. The failing robot, the one bent on
destruction and hatred, begins a descent into Earth's atmosphere. The other
robot races after it, but is too late to stop the evil robot from breaking up
and sending it's remains down to the surface. The resulting crash alerts both
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, but Wily manages to find the crash site before Mega Man
can. Racing to the scene, Mega Man finds Dr. Wily fleeing with a piece from the
crash site, a small meteor which he claims can give him the power to take over
the world. Escaping in a small capsule, Wily leaves Mega Man alone at the crash
site, but Mega Man discovers the damaged body of the other robot in the remains,
and quickly takes it back to Dr. Light for repairs. The alien robot intrigues
Dr. Light, and while he conducts repairs on it's damaged body, Mega Man heads
out to stop Wily and his eight new Robot Masters.

Mega Man:
Mega
Man is back again to stop Dr. Wily's evil plans. After receiving the message
from Dr. Light about the mysterious meteor crash, Mega Man finds no other than
Dr. Wily escaping with part of the meteor. After discovering Duo, the powerful
robot with a mission to destroy evil, Mega Man heads out to stop Wily, but he'll
have to face eight new powerful Robot Masters built by Wily before the final
showdown can occur. Along the way he can rely on his trust partner Rush to help
him out, as well as some old friends, the other robot creations of Dr. Light.
Rush:
Rush
is back to help out Mega Man in any way he can. With his vast array of
abilities, Rush will help Mega Man by carrying him over dangerous areas, and
giving him back-up help and weaponry. Many areas Mega Man can't get through
without Rush's help, so the two of them remain good friends and partners, and
this is one creation Dr. Light can be truly proud of.
Protoman:
Protoman,
one of Dr. Light's other robot creations, will make a few appearances during the
game. Normally out on his own crusades, Protoman often watches over Mega Man's
progress and occasionally intervenes to assist Mega Man in any way he can. With
his strong will and righteous mind, Protoman proves to be a valuable friend and
ally to Mega Man, even though he may have been envious of Mega Man's power in
the past.
Duo:
Duo
is the mysterious alien robot from deep space sent to destroy the destructive
source of what is known as the "Evil Energy." His creators and origins are
completely unknown, but his righteous and strong will helps him to fight for
justice alongside Mega Man. During Mega Man's quest, Duo will often help out by
continuing his mission to stop Dr. Wily from using the Evil Energy for world
domination, vowing to stop Wily at all costs.
Roll:
Roll,
Mega Man's robotic sister, often helps out during the game by offering Mega Man
new abilities at Dr. Light's lab. She'll be able to build the new parts for Mega
Man, but you'll first have to find enough bolts for each part before they can be
made. Always looking out for Mega Man's well-being, Roll proves her value in the
ongoing battle against Dr. Wily's evil plans.
Auto, Beat and Eddie:
Auto,
Beat and Eddie can help Mega Man out in certain stages that require him to fly
over dangerous areas aboard Rush. Waiting in the special floating purple balls,
signal boxes await Mega Man, and once called, one of the three characters will
arrive to help Mega Man in the battlefield. Utilizing special weaponry, each one
can greatly assist Mega Man and give him better chances for survival against
Wily's robotic minions.
Dr. Light:
Dr.
Light, Mega Man's creator and also the creator of the rest of the gang, has a
new mystery to solve when the meteor crash lands on Earth. After repairing Duo,
Dr. Light continues to study the "Evil Energy" that Dr. Wily is using in his new
robots, trying to discover the power they hold and what kind of danger they
pose. Keeping an eye on Mega Man's progress, Dr. Light maintains Mega Man's
equipment and assists Roll in creating the special new parts for Mega Man.
Bass & Treble:
Bass
and Treble return to rival Mega Man's power. Still reeling from his losses to
Mega Man in the past, Bass begins to forget about Wily and lives only for the
sole purpose of proving that he and Treble are more powerful than Mega Man and
Rush, and Bass is willing to stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Waiting for
Mega Man in Dr. Wily's new castle, Bass awaits him eagerly as he has a new
surprise in store for Mega Man, but Bass' constant overconfidence and lack of
judgement may prove to be his undoing.
Dr. Wily:
After
Bass rescued Dr. Wily in Mega Man's previous quest, Wily began to build up a new
robot army, but his time for action came when the meteor crashed on Earth.
Reaching the meteor before Mega Man could, Wily stole part of it that contained
the "Evil Energy," and made off to his new castle to begin researching the
meteor's power. After deciphering it's power, Wily began to integrate the energy
into his new robots, making them more powerful than ever. Thinking he can
finally move on to world domination, Wily still underestimates Mega Man's power,
as Mega Man doesn't need the Evil Energy's power to stop Wily, and he also has a
new ally who is also ready to stop Wily's plans.
Intro Stage:
A
nice and easy stage, you'll have to make your way across the beach to the crash
site, along the way you'll encounter metools and the purple hermit crabs, keep
in mind that if any of the crabs are sitting atop a platform, you can shoot them
so that they roll down any ramps behind them while destroying any enemies in the
way. About halfway through you'll find a button on the ground, step on it to
open up a secret entrance leading down to a sub-water level where you can find
three bolts. Blast the trees that get in your way, and after receiving the Mega
Ball from Rush, you'll come up against the Claw Crab boss at the end of this
stage.
Clown Man Stage:
Clown
Man's stage will have a lot of tricky areas to get through with many traps along
the way. At the beginning, if you need an extra life, stand on the left corner
and kick the Mega Ball into the large clown's mouth on the right to receive an
extra life. Head right below the large clown and you'll drop down into a room
full of toys resembling old foes from Mega Man's past. Make your way to the
right while avoiding the snakes that drop down from the ceiling, and be careful
of the purple cannons. Once you reach the large hole, drop down to move on. Head
right and you'll come back out into the open. Ahead you'll find an array of
train tracks on the ground with fast-moving trains whizzing about. They'll come
out of the large doors in the background, make sure you jump over them as they
pass.
Be careful of the large floating balloons in the sky, as they'll often drop down
a small capsule full of mini-clowns, if they grab you they'll tickle you and
you'll be frozen for a few seconds. Blast the large balloon to stop them from
coming. Keep going right, and whenever a train appears, jump onto the green part
of it and you'll be able to ride it. Use this to your advantage to ride over
dangerous areas below, just be careful when you come to the point where the
trains will be ramming into each other. Keep going right while avoiding all the
obstacles and you'll eventually reach the end of this area. The next area will
be a bit more tricky. You'll spot large blocks on the ground with circles and
crosses inscribed on the side. In the background, you should spot a large bell
between two doors. Every few seconds, a small robot with a hammer will come out
of one of the doors and whack the bell. You must make sure that you're standing
on a block with a circle on it to avoid taking damage when the robot strikes the
bell, as if you're standing on a block with a cross, you'll sustain damage. Move
right and be careful of the floating balloons above and the metools along the
ground. Keep going right and you'll eventually reach a dead-end. Stand on the
large circular platform against the wall to have loads of toys drop down from
above, you'll then drop down into the mini-boss' room.
Mini-Boss: You'll land in a room
where the large round boss will be waiting. It'll bounce around the room for the
entire battle, so you'll have to time your sliding right to avoid striking it.
It'll often fire out two smaller versions of itself, quickly destroy them before
they cause too much trouble. It might also fire out two of the mini-clowns that
grab you, quickly blast them before the can reach you. Use charged shots from
the Mega Buster as well as the Mega Ball to finish it off. Keep firing at it
while trying to avoid it's bouncing movement, and you should eventually destroy
it with ease. You'll receive the Rush Item ability once it blows.
The next area will be out in the open again with the cross and circle blocks.
There'll be a new danger, as many parts of the ground will be covered in spikes,
and you should also spot new blocks with a skull on them. Make sure you don't
stand on them when the bell rings as you'll drop down below to the spikes. Make
your way to the right and make sure you destroy the green shielded robot before
he causes too much trouble. Blast the purple cannons and the floating balloons,
you should eventually reach another dead end. Stand on the circular platform to
rise up to the next area. Go into the door at the top to go back indoors. Once
inside, you can use the large skull platforms to move up and down, head down the
large shaft and go right. Blast all the robots along the way, once you reach the
open area with all the skull platforms, use the Mega Ball jump to reach two
bolts above, otherwise just keep moving to the right. Once you find a ladder
leading up, head up the shaft until you reach the exit at the top. You'll be
back out in the open, head left and blast the shielded robot. Go right and
you'll reach another shaft full of the circle and cross blocks. There'll be a
new one here, a question mark box, stand on it when the bell rings to teleport
further up. Once you move up, quickly head over to the next question mark block
on the right before the bell rings. At the next level, three other question mark
blocks will be available, the one on the left doesn't go anywhere, you'll want
to take the one up against the right wall to move further up. Up above will be
four more question mark blocks to choose from, stand on the one to the right of
the block you're on to teleport down to an area where you can find a bolt, but
you'll need to be quick with the Mega Ball jump to reach it in time. Back up the
top, the blocks up against the left and right wall are linked together, so
you'll want to take the block next to the one up against the left wall to reach
the top. Once at the top, quickly move to the right before the bell rings again.
Head right over to the circular platform to drop down into the next area and
head through the door on the right to finally reach Clown Man's room.
Grenade Man Stage:
Grenade
Man's stage will have a lot of obstacles that you can easily destroy with the
Mega Buster, so get ready for a lot of explosions. Once you begin head right and
blast the snakes that drop from the ceiling. Keep going right and you'll
eventually find small blocks that will explode when you shoot them. Be careful
of the bats that drop from the roof, and make sure you destroy the purple
cannons before they can fire. Try to avoid hitting the small razor blades moving
around the ground, then once you reach an area with the explosive blocks leading
down to the very bottom of the screen, try not to destroy them, as if the hole
opens up a small spiked robot will jump up out of the hole.
Eventually you'll reach the end of the first area, head right and you'll reach a
large room full of green and silver blocks. You can destroy the green blocks,
but be careful of the silver ones as they'll drop down if a block below them is
destroyed. You can reach a bolt below by destroying the right blocks, once you
pass through the room head right until you reach the next area. Whenever you
find a time bomb with the number 3 on them, jump on it then quickly jump off as
the timer will engage and the bomb will blow when it reaches zero. The next area
has a huge open hole with time bombs floating around. Jump across the time bombs
and the moving platforms, just be careful of the green shielded robot and the
small spiked robots jumping out of the hole. Keep going and you'll eventually
reach the mini-boss' room.
Mini-Boss: You'll be in a room full
of junk metal on the ground, the boss will then hover out from the junk. It'll
be a large mechanical eye which will constantly have junk pieces floating around
itself. Blast the pieces and fire away at the eye to damage it, you can also use
the Mega Ball to hit the eye easily. Be careful of it's attacks, as it'll often
throw pieces of junk around the room in an attempt to hit Mega Man, try your
best to dodge them or fire at the pieces to destroy them. The eye might dive
down into the ground, make sure you're not above it when it comes back up. Once
you defeat this mini-boss you'll receive the Rush Bike ability.
Climb up the ladder in the next area and blast the purple cannon. Ahead you'll
find large red hammers swinging back and forth into the background, make sure
you pass them while the hammer is in the background. Keep going right and you'll
eventually come across large blocks with fuses attached. You can use the Flame
Sword to blow the fuse to destroy the blocks, but be careful as if the fire
robots touch the fuse they'll set it off. Eventually you'll reach a hole with
the explosive blocks hovering above. Head over them but be very fast as the fire
robots will drop down from above and set the fuses off. Destroy any snakes that
get in the way, and eventually you'll come across a dead-end. Wait for the fire
robot to set off the fuse, then when the blocks below you blow, quickly head
over to the ladder on the other side of the wall. Keep going right and you'll
find more of the swinging hammers. Dodge the hammers and head right while
blasting any enemies in the way, you'll eventually reach Grenade Man's room at
the end of the corridor.
Frost Man Stage:
Frost
Man's stage will be tough to get through the first time. Once you begin head
right over the frozen platforms. Be careful of the rotating penguins as they'll
rocket around trying to hit you, also be careful of the large robot above that
drops bombs everywhere. Keep going right over the frozen platforms and you'll
eventually reach a door. Head inside and go over to the large elevator. Once you
begin to move up, bats will fly down from above, quickly destroy them before
they attack and pick up any capsules they drop. Once the elevator stops moving
head right to reach the first snowboarding area.
This next area will be tough to get through if you don't have much experience
with it yet. You'll be riding atop a rocket sled while blasting enemies and
avoiding obstacles. Once you begin sliding down the ramp, get ready to jump or
slide whenever a large symbol appears at the top right of the corner indicating
a sliding or jumping figure. You'll also hear a voice say "Jump" or "Slide"
twice, just to let you know what to do. There isn't much to say about this area,
just that you'll need some experience to make it through, and you'll need to get
used to the signals telling you whether to jump or slide. Try your best to stay
on the left side of the screen at all times so that you'll have sufficient time
to react as the screen will slowly begin to move faster throughout this area.
Once you reach a large area where you'll be plowing through thick snow, once you
reach the end Mega Man will jump off the sled and you can move on to the next
area past the continue point.
In the next area, you'll be traversing across the frozen platforms again, but
this time there'll be large robotic whales in the sky dropping down large ice
cubes. Once the ice cubes land, a machine will fire them forward, make sure you
jump over the blocks as they'll be able to crush you against a wall. Destroy the
whales to stop the ice cubes from falling. Keep going and you'll eventually
reach an indoor shaft leading up. You can use the Astro Crush to blow open the
ice floor below to reach a bolt, you can also use the Flash Bomb to destroy the
crumbling ice blocks here. Head up the shaft and blast the red missile-firing
robots along the way. Head through the door at the top and go into the next
room. Head over the frozen platforms and ignore the flying robots that leave
colored gas clouds. Head through to the next large elevator and go up. Blast the
bats that appear, then once at the top go right to the final snowboarding area.
This next snowboard area will be much more difficult to get through than the
previous, you'll need more experience to make it through, just remember to
follow the signs along the way and stay on the left side of the screen at all
times. Once you reach the large area where you'll be plowing through snow,
several capsules will be hiding in the snow, try to pick up as many as you can.
Once Mega Man jumps off the sled, head through the door on the right to reach
Frost Man's room.
Tengu Man Stage:
Tengu
Man's stage will be mainly up in the sky so you'll have to be careful to avoid
falling off the platforms. In the first area wind will be blowing in from the
left and will be pushing Mega Man to the right so you'll have to be careful.
Head right and blast any of the floating robots that you encounter. When you
reach open areas large purple platforms will rise up, use them to get over the
holes. Eventually three huge whales will fly past while dropping loads of
metools, try to avoid being hit by them. Keep going and you'll eventually reach
a large room full of floating spikes. Go over to the platform in the center of
the room and Mega Man will become encased in a bubble.
You'll begin to float up, so you'll need to move around to avoid the spikes,
otherwise if you're hit the bubble will explode. Float to the right wall, then
further up slowly float up the left to reach the door in the top left corner of
the room. Once at the top head right over the floating platforms. Blast the
flying robots in the back, and when the crows appear quickly blast them before
they hit you. Keep moving to avoid the falling metools from the whales,
eventually you'll reach a huge open area which you can't cross, so Rush will
teleport down and become the Rocket Jet which you'll be flying around on. Once
you begin to move you'll be bombarded by loads of enemies, including the crows
and the giant whales. When you come across a large purple balloon, fire it open
and it'll release a small block which will flash images of Rush, Auto, Eddie and
Beat. When you grab the block the character will come down to assist you. If you
get Auto, he'll come down and fire out rockets whenever you press fire. If you
get Eddie, he'll hover about while dropping out bombs when you press fire. If
you get Beat, he'll fly around and often attack enemies, if you use a charged
shot he'll fly straight ahead. If you get the Rush icon, Rush'll begin to fire
out three energy bolts from below his head, all four of these powerups can be
very useful. Whenever large purple or green serpents begin to appear, quickly
blast the head to destroy it completely. Keep holding out against all the
enemies that appear and you'll eventually reach the continue point.
In the next area you'll be bombarded by enemies again, but this time you'll come
up to a large ship in the sky. Keep blasting the enemies and make sure you hit
the purple balloons to get help from Auto, Rush, Beat or Eddie. Once you reach a
point where panels open up on the ship and enemies come out, quickly blast the
panels when they're open to stop the enemies from coming. Eventually you'll
reach an indoor area where you'll come across a large energy cannon. Try your
best to destroy the panels on the roof and floor, then blast away at the cannon.
If it begins to charge up energy, stay below it as it might fire out a huge
energy beam straight ahead. If it fires out three small energy balls, quickly
move to dodge them. Keep firing away at the cannon to eventually destroy it.
Once it blows, you'll move out of the ship into an open area again before
landing at a door ahead. Go into the room and you'll be in the second bubble
room. Go over to the platform to encase Mega Man in the bubble. This time it'll
be a bit more tricky to make it to the top. Float up between the first two
moving spikes, then float left or right and avoid the next moving spike. Float
over to the right and carefully move to the left above the three moving spikes,
then keep floating left to reach the top. You're now in another open area with
the floating platforms and the blowing wind. Try to avoid taking damage from the
flying robots and blast the crows before they hit you. Keep going right over the
platforms and be careful when landing on the purple platforms that rise up from
below. Eventually you'll reach the end of the area, head through the door to
face Tengu Man.
Duo Stage:
Duo's
rocky cave stage won't be too tough to get through, you'll mainly have to face
off against the nasty purple cannons. Head into the cave at the beginning and go
right. Destroy the purple cannons atop the platforms, then you can use the Mega
Ball jump or the Tornado Hold to reach the ladder above to find two bolts,
otherwise drop down the hole on the right corner of the room. In the next room
below, quickly blast the cannon and the two floating robots on the left before
they can fire. Once they're gone, drop down the next hole on the left. Down
below you'll find two more cannons, quickly take out the Mega Ball and kick it
towards them, it should bounce off the wall on the right and hit both cannons,
then proceed down the hole on the right.
Three more cannons are below, blast the first one straight ahead and use the
Mega Ball to hit the one just below you. Drop down to where the second cannon
was and blast the third one, then drop down the large hole. In the next room
you'll be surrounded by metools, quickly blast them all when they move, then go
down the ladder on the left. Drop down into the next room and quickly blast the
floating robot before it fires. Blast the green shielded robot when it drops
it's shield, or you can go right up to him so that you're touching the shield,
then blast away to hit him. Shoot open the purple balloon above to get a full
weapon refill capsule, then head right to confront Duo.
Search Man Stage:
Search
Man's stage will be a large jungle area full of traps and surprises. Once you
begin, head right and blast the large robot at the edge of the cliff quickly
before it throws the bomb at you. Climb down the ladder and go right. In this
stage, you'll be able to use the small metal hooks in the air to swing around
with the Thunder Claw. Fire the Thunder Claw at the hook and Mega Man will swing
around the hook while avoiding the metools below. Just ahead you'll spot another
hook above a sliding razor as well as two large spiked thorn bushes. Try to
avoid touching the bushes, and keep in mind that they can be destroyed using the
Flame Sword.
Head right and destroy the large robot before he throws a bomb at you. Go right
and you'll be in another large area with metal hooks in the air. Try your best
to get across the hooks without falling below as several enemies will be waiting
below. Head right over to the next entrance and you'll be in a new room full of
floating metal spiked balls. Head down the path below to reach a bolt (you'll
need the Flame Sword to destroy the spiked thorn bushes), otherwise head up the
ladder on the right and use the metal hooks to avoid the spikes. Go up the top
and destroy the large green robot before he throws a spiked ball at you, then
head right. Keep going right past the spikes and metal hooks, eventually you'll
reach a platform with a huge robot with a drill on it's head. Quickly blast away
at it before it fires at you. Climb up the ladder on the right and go into the
entrance above the razor on the ground to reach the continue point.
You'll now be in a large jungle area again. Head right while blasting the red
missile-firing robots and the bomb/spike throwing robots, eventually you'll
reach a spiked thorn bush with a closed door above. Shoot the door to open it,
but quickly go through it before it closes. Go right until you reach a ladder.
Go up and just near the top shoot the robot on the left, as you'll be able to
fire through the wall. Go up the next ladder on the left and take out the
Thunder Claw. Up above is another shutter door, but you'll have to swing across
a metal hook to avoid the spikes below. Shoot the door open with the Mega Buster
then quickly swing across before it closes. Once through, keep going right while
blasting enemies until you reach another ladder leading down. Go down and take
out the Thunder Claw again. Stand on the edge of the platform below, then fire
out the Thunder Claw to grab the hook. If you're quick enough, when Mega Man
swings over, quickly fire again to grab another hook to reach a bolt, otherwise
drop down into the hole on the left. You're now on the final straight to Search
Man's room. Head right and watch out for the bomb-throwing robots dropping down
from above, blast the array of enemies you'll come across and eventually you'll
reach another hook above spikes. Grab the hook with the Thunder Claw and quickly
blast the shutter door open with the Mega Buster when Mega Man swings around to
it. Head through the next door on the right to reach Search Man's room.
Astro Man Stage:
Astro
Man's stage is full of unusual areas and some nasty surprises. Once you begin,
head right and you should notice platforms appearing and disappearing in
mid-air. Be careful whenever you reach a hole in the ground as the small spiked
robots will fly up out of them. You'll have to time your jumps on the
disappearing platforms so that you can make it over the holes before they
vanish. You'll come across small circular holes on the ground which will try to
chomp Mega Man if he's standing above them, use the Mega Ball to destroy them.
Keep going right while dodging the enemies, time your jumps, and you'll
eventually reach a skull teleport pad which will take you to the next area.
In this next area you'll have to make your way to the next teleport pad, but in
this area the entire complex will loop around when you reach an edge somewhere.
Several wall barriers will be blocking the way, so you'll need to step on
buttons to move them. Once you appear in the complex, head right and step on the
red button. Go past the red wall barrier and head down the ladder. Once at the
bottom, head right and use the Mega Ball jump to jump up to the next platform.
Go right and step on the green switch to open up the teleport pad above. Go
right until you reach a ladder with a switch above, step on the green switch
until the green wall barrier comes right down. Go down the ladder and head
right. Jump up to the highest platform from the edge, then go over to the next
ladder. Climb up and head left. Go left and head up the next ladder. At the top,
go right and step on the red switch to bring the barrier down. The green barrier
on the left should be fully down, so drop down and go back around under the red
barrier. Go right to the edge of the platform and drop down. Go left, then once
you reach the edge of the platform, drop down as far as you can go, then go
right and go down the ladder there. Jump over the small hole at the bottom and
head over to the skull teleport pad. This area will be pretty tough to get
through the first time, you'll need to explore well before you can make it
through. You'll need to be quick in the next area, as you'll reappear in a
sinking tower. Quickly head up the ladder and begin to climb up the tower. Blast
any enemies along the way, and try your best to stay above the hole below. If
you're quick you'll be able to pick a bolt along the way, eventually you'll
reach the top, quickly step on the teleport pad to escape from the tower and to
reach the continue point.
You'll be out in another open area with the vanishing platforms, but this one
will be tougher to get through than the previous. You'll need to time your jumps
perfectly to avoid falling into the holes, and be careful of the spiked robots
jumping out of the holes. Just before the end of this area you'll be able to
grab a bolt at the base of a high wall. Go over the wall and go over to the
skull teleport pad to proceed to the next area. You'll now be in the second
looping area but it'll be tougher to get through. Head right until you reach a
ladder. Go down and head down the next ladder on the right. Head left and jump
over to the platform beyond the ladder leading down. Step on the red switch
ahead and move left to find a green switch. Hit the switch and go down the
ladder. Head back right, go back to the ladder you jumped over just before. Go
left, jump over the red switch, then jump on top of the green wall barrier and
go left. Head down the ladder and go left, then go down the next ladder to find
a red switch below. Hit the switch and go right. Once you reach a high wall, use
the Mega Ball jump or Tornado Hold to reach the top, then go right and hit the
green switch. Drop down the hole below the barrier and head right to eventually
find the skull teleport pad. Once you reappear head through the door on the
right to find Astro Man's room. This will be a very tough stage to work through,
you'll need to explore a lot in the looping areas to find your way through.
Aqua Man Stage:
Aqua
Man's stage will have many underwater areas, remember that Mega Man can swim if
you repeatedly press jump while underwater. Once you begin head right and drop
down into the water. Blast the jellyfish robots quickly before they swim at you,
and fire at the clam shells below when they open up. Keep going right and you'll
eventually reach an underwater shaft leading up. Head up the shaft and try to
avoid all the enemies along the way. Blast any that get in the way, but be
careful when you reach the top as spikes will be lining parts of the walls. Head
right and blast all the jellyfish before heading into the spike-lined area.
You'll have to be very careful as the roof and floor will be covered with
spikes, time your swimming so that you make it through the tunnel without
touching anything.
Head right to the next shaft area. Swim up the shaft while avoiding the hermit
crabs. Blast the jellyfish, and you'll eventually reach a ladder. Head up and
blast the green shielded robot. Go up the next ladder and head right to reach
the huge waterfall where you'll face the mini-boss.
Mini-Boss: This boss will be in the
form of a huge fish that will dart about the waterfall in the background while
the screen continuously moves downward. Try to stay up against the opposite wall
to the fish as it'll often fire out a large beam that will cause heavy damage if
it hits Mega Man, stay up against the opposite wall to avoid it. It might also
fire down a large ball from above, again, stay up against the wall to avoid it.
Use the Homing Sniper and Astro Crush to damage it while it's in front of the
waterfall, just don't waste weapon energy when it hides behind the waterfall.
Keep firing away at it and you'll eventually destroy it. Once it blows you'll
reach the bottom of the waterfall where you'll receive the Rush Health ability
before moving on past the continue point.
The next area will be a watery cave where you'll have to go swimming again. Go
down into the water and blast the jellyfish before going right. In the next
room, blast the two purple hermit crabs, use the Astro Crush to blow open the
ceiling above so that you can reach a bolt. The next room will be a huge open
space filled with spike balls, try your best to avoid touching them. Blast the
clam shells and jellyfish, then make your way to the right. In the bottom right
corner of the room you can use the Tornado Hold on the spike ball to reach a
bolt, then head up the ladder. If you filled the previous room with water by
destroying the ceiling with the Astro Crush, you can swim over the spikes on the
right to reach a different area where you can drop down a large shaft after
swimming through spike-filled areas to get a bolt, otherwise head up the top
exit, you'll eventually reach the point where the two paths meet back up. Once
you reach that point, head right into the next water area and make your way to
the right past all the jellyfish and clam shells. Once you reach the end of this
area you'll find the door leading to Aqua Man's room.
Sword Man Stage:
Sword
Man's tomb-like stage will be full of traps and tricky parts. Once you begin,
head right until you reach a large door set into the wall. Step on the switch to
open the door, then wait for all the bats to fly out of the mouth before going
inside. Once inside, you'll have to clear four separate areas to proceed past
the four wall barriers ahead. Each area will require you to use one of the first
four weapons gained from the first four bosses of the game. Go up the ladder and
head left into the purple teleport ball on the left. In the background you'll
see a pattern inscribed on the wall, it'll be shaped like a lightning bolt, so
you'll need to use the Thunder Claw in this area. Touch the ball to teleport to
the area.
In this area, large spikes will be moving up, down or across the screen in an
attempt to crush you under them. You'll need to hit the small red hooks to stop
the spikes and to open the door to the next room. Jump down and blast the two
statue robots moving around before hitting the hook on the left. You can also
use the Mega Buster to hit the hook, but the Thunder Claw will move it faster.
Head into the next room, then quickly go up the ladder before the spikes begin
to move. Blast the vampire bat before it catches you, then head up the next
ladder. Use the Thunder Claw to grab the metal hook above to swing over to the
ladder on the left, or blast the two fire statues. Head up and blast the two
statue robots. Hit the hook to open up the next door. Go in and quickly head
right past the fire robot. Go up the ladder and quickly use the Thunder Claw on
the hook ahead to avoid the moving spikes. Drop down, blast the two statue
robots and the fire statue, then blast the hook to enter the final room. Go in
and step on the switch in front of the teleport ball before leaving. Touch the
teleport ball to go back to the main room. The first wall barrier will rise, so
you'll have three more to go. Go up the ladder and head to the teleport ball on
the right. You'll need to use the Flash Bomb in this next area to light up the
rooms for a second to see where you're going. In each room, fire the Flash Bomb
and take note of the colored panel that appears in the background. Head right
and watch out for the holes and the bats in the next two rooms. Once you leave
the dark rooms you'll enter a room with three switches on the ground. Each
switch has a small colored panel above it, in the previous three rooms the
corresponding blocks were hidden in the background, use the same combination
that the blocks appear in order from the first room to the third room to open
the door. Once it opens head into the final room and step on the switch before
leaving. Once back in the main room, go up the ladder, then go up the next
ladder on the left and take out the Tornado Hold. Go up to the teleport ball on
the left. You'll now need to use the Tornado Hold to push the large floating
object into the lock in the roof. You'll just need to shoot the first one to
push it into the lock. Head through the door and shoot the next floating object
under the lock. Fire the Tornado Hold so that it pushes the object up into the
lock to open the door. In the next room, you'll need to use a combination of the
Mega Buster and the Tornado Hold to get the object past the wall, then it'll
float over to the lock beyond the spikes on the right. Use the Tornado Hold to
get the object into the lock, then head through the door to find the final room
with the switch. Hit the switch and go back to the main room. With one more to
go, head up to the top right teleport ball and take out the Ice Wave. In this
area, you'll need to freeze huge fire exhaust vents to avoid the fire they spew
out, when you fire the Ice Wave down, it'll crawl along the ground and freeze
the vents but be quick as they won't stay frozen for long. Blast the vampire
bats and any other enemies that appear and you should eventually reach the
switch. Hit the switch and go back to the main room. With all the barriers open,
head through to face the mini-boss of this stage.
Mini-Boss: This boss will be tricky
to beat as you'll be in a room filled with lava. The object on the wall will
move up and down often, once it opens it'll reveal a pink rotating shape. The
object will often fire out flames at you, try your best to avoid them. Blast
away at the core when it's exposed, you should be able to deal a lot of damage
before it closes. Once you deal out a significant amount of damage, a large
battering ram will appear in the background and will destroy the floor below
you. You'll now have to be very careful to avoid falling in, make sure you stay
on one of the three floating pillars. If the battering ram moves towards the one
you're standing on, quickly jump to another as it'll knock it down into the
lava. Keep blasting away at the core, once it blows you'll receive the Rush
Bomber ability before moving on past the continue point.
The next area will be full of lava but you'll have a blue platform to ride
across. Huge amounts of lava will fly up out of the lava up against the wall
ahead, jump onto the blue platform and jump on the right switch to move it to
the right. Wait for the lava to go down, then move over above it, so that when
the lava flies up it'll take you up with it. Move on to the right once you reach
the top. The next area will be full of lava again, but the pillars will be back
from the mini-boss' room as well as the battering rams, so when you jump on a
pillar quickly jump to the next one to avoid falling into the lava. Blast the
fire statues and vampire bats, and you'll eventually reach another lava area
with the blue platform. Two lava pillars will rise up on the right, wait for
them both to go down and quickly move over to the right wall before the lava
comes up again. Once the lava comes up, you should be able to avoid the spikes
on the roof, once at the top move over to the second pillar of lava to reach the
ladder above. Make your way past all of the statue robots in the next area,
eventually you'll reach another blue platform at the head of a lava river. Jump
on the right switch and the platform will move by itself down the lava river.
Blast all the vampire bats along the way, and remember that down below is a
large brown block that can be destroyed with the Flash Bomb so that you can find
a bolt above. At the end of the lava river you'll find the door leading to Sword
Man's room.
Dr. Wily Stage 1:
The
first Dr. Wily stage will be very difficult to make it through safely. For most
of the stage you'll be riding the rocket sled again similar to the one in Frost
Man's stage, but this course will be much more difficult as the screen will be
moving very fast and it'll be difficult to follow the signs. You'll need a lot
of experience to make it through, don't get disheartened as it will take a while
to make it through, but once you reach the point where Mega Man jumps off the
sled, you'll find that you're not quite at the end yet. Head right and you'll
find an area full of silver and gold hooks. Use the Thunder Claw to traverse
across this area, once you reach the final door leading to the boss' room,
you'll find an extra life behind a purple cannon above the door, use the Mega
Ball jump to reach it before heading into the boss' room.
Dr. Wily Stage 2:
The
second Dr. Wily stage will involve an area similar to Tengu Man's stage where
you'll be riding atop the Rush Jet. Once you begin head right and go up the
ladder. Go up the tall shaft while blasting the robots along the walls. Once you
reach a point where two ladders lead up, go up the right ladder to find a life
or weapon refill capsule. Head to the top of the shaft and go right. Blast the
green shielded robot ahead and climb up the ladder on the right. Keep going and
you'll eventually reach a large shaft leading down that is packed with large
explosive blocks. Destroy the blocks with the Mega Buster and head down to the
door on the bottom right corner of the shaft.
In the next room, go over to the edge of the platform on the right and Rush will
teleport down. He'll become the Rush Jet and you'll take off. Along the way to
the boss, make sure you don't take too much damage from the enemies that appear,
and be sure to blow open the purple balloons to gain some help from Rush, Auto,
Eddie or Beat. Hold out against the barrage of enemies and you'll eventually
reach the boss of this stage.
Dr. Wily Stage 3:
This
will be the last stage before the one where you'll have the final showdown with
Dr. Wily. Once you begin, head forward and blast the large robot that throws
rocks. Keep going to the right until you reach a ladder. Head up the tall shaft
and use the floating time bombs to get across to each ladder. Make sure you
blast the robots on the walls as they'll be firing at you when you pass them.
Once you reach a bed of spikes, use the walking time bomb to reach the next
ladder and climb up. Go right over to the larger bed of spikes and use the
walking and floating time bombs to make it across. Once you reach the end of the
spikes, wait for the large robot to throw down a large boulder, then use the
boulder to reach the platform ahead.
Grab the energy refill capsule on the right before heading up the ladder. Once
at the top, go right to find the door leading to the room where you'll face
Bass. After defeating Bass, head through the next door and go right. Watch out
for the razor blades on the ground and be careful of the robots on the walls
ahead. Drop down the hole on the right and slide to the left to avoid taking
damage from the robot on the wall. Drop down the next hole and slide to the
right. Drop through the hole on the right and hold left so that you can pick up
an energy refill capsule, then drop down to the ground below and head right. Go
right and blast the bomb/rock throwing robots on the platforms, then head up to
the ladder on the right. Go up, pick up the extra life behind the green shielded
robot on the left then head right. Jump across the narrow platforms ahead and
watch out for the spike-ball throwing robots and the floating spike ball. Just
after the narrow platforms you'll find the door leading to the boss of this
stage.
Dr. Wily Stage 4:
This
is the stage where you'll have to face all eight of Wily's Robot Masters again
in any order you wish. You'll begin in the large room with eight teleport pads,
each one will lead to a Robot Master. Each time you defeat a boss, they'll drop
a large life refill capsule, make sure you pick it up before moving on. Once all
eight bosses have been defeated you'll move up the elevator in the center of the
room, head right at the top to reach the door leading to Wily's room, just make
sure you pick up the full weapon refill capsule in the balloon above before
heading in for the final showdown.
Claw Crab:
Guide:
You'll encounter the Claw Crab at the end of the first stage just before the
crash site. Once it opens up and readies it's claws, it'll attack. Be careful as
the crab will jump to each side of the screen often, make sure you slide
underneath when it jumps to avoid being crushed. Try to stay far back from the
crab as it'll try to grab you with it's claws. It might also fire out several
smaller purple shells from the top of it's shell, try to avoid being hit by any
of them when they land. Be careful if it walks forward, as it'll try to corner
you with it's claws. To defeat it, use charged shots of the Mega Buster on it's
face to temporarily stun it. It's shell will reel back and expose the crab's
weak point, blast away at the bubble above it's eyes to damage the crab. You can
also kick the Mega Ball into it's face to stun it, then fire away at the bubble.
Once it blows you'll confront Wily as he takes off with the meteor.
Weakness: Mega Ball.
Clown Man:
Guide:
Clown Man will swing around the hook at the top of the room with his long arms
before the battle begins. He'll be moving around quite quickly so you'll need to
be fast to avoid taking damage. If he jumps up or charges at you, he'll grab
onto the hook and begin to swing right around the screen, stay in the center and
jump over him when he passes underneath, try to avoid being hit as it'll cause
heavy damage. Once he lands he'll perform one of two attacks. If he shouts
"Thunder Claw!" he'll plow his hands into the ground and they'll come up again
under Mega Man, jump up quickly to avoid being caught. If he shouts "Thunder
Powerball!" he'll become a large red energy ball that will bounce around the
screen, time it right so you can slide under the ball before it lands. Clown
Man's weakness is the Tornado Hold, when he swings around the hook fire it out
so that he's caught in the wind vortex. He'll fly up out of the screen and land
on the ground with his arms tangled up, blast away with the Mega Buster before
he gets up. If you don't have the Tornado Hold yet, use charged shots from the
Mega Buster whenever he's open for attack.
Weakness: Tornado Hold.
Weapon Received: Thunder Claw.
Grenade Man:
Guide:
Grenade Man will enter via the background wall, he'll blow his way into the room
for a flashy entrance before attacking. He'll be firing out bomb-type
projectiles often, if he jumps over to the opposite corner of the room he'll
fire out three small grenades down below, try to stay under him as he jumps and
move towards the wall to avoid them. If he shouts "Flash Bomb!" he'll fire out a
large bomb that'll explode when it strikes something, make sure it doesn't hit
you. He might also charge at you, jump over him as he passes. If the screen
begins to shake, metal objects will fall down from above, try your best to avoid
being hit by them. To defeat Grenade Man, use the Thunder Claw. Get close
whenever he lands and fire the weapon, you'll strike him and cause heavy damage.
Try to avoid his attacks as best you can, then once his health drops below half,
he'll plant four bombs across the room and blow open the floor. You'll drop down
to a lower room, finish him off there.
Weakness: Thunder Claw.
Weapon Received: Flash Bomb.
Frost Man:
Guide:
Once you enter Frost Man's room you'll spot several ice blocks ahead shaped like
Mega Man. Frost Man will enter and bash the ice blocks to pieces as his taunting
move before the battle begins. He'll be using some tough attacks so you'll need
to be extra fast to avoid them. If he pounds the ground with his fists, he'll
fire forward ice spikes across the ground, quickly jump above them, otherwise
he'll slam you against the wall if the ice hits Mega Man. He'll jump around
often, try to slide under him as he flies overhead. He might also often call
down one of the moving ice blocks from above and punch them at the opposite
wall, move quickly to dodge them. If he pounds the ground repeatedly all the ice
blocks above will fall straight down, keep moving to dodge them. To defeat Frost
Man, use the Flash Bomb. Keep firing at him when he lands on the ground, just
wait for each explosion to stop before firing again. Use the Mega Buster's
charged shots to deal out more damage, and keep moving to avoid his attacks.
Weakness: Flash Bomb.
Weapon Received: Ice Wave.
Tengu Man:
Guide:
Tengu Man will be tough to beat, as he'll be using some powerful moves. He'll
drop down from the sky and taunt you before attacking. He'll be flying around
the top of the screen for most of the battle, so you'll have to wait for him to
lower down before firing. After flying around the screen for a few seconds, if
he shouts out "Tornado Hold!" he'll fire out a large air-disc that'll fly down
towards you. Once it hits the ground it'll fire up a large wind vortex straight
up, make sure you don't get caught in it as Tengu Man will fly in and cause more
damage if Mega Man's caught in the vortex. Be very careful of the two holes in
the ground on the left and right, make sure you stay well away from them. If
Tengu Man fires out a large wind ball, jump over it as it passes below, as if
you're caught the ball will try to drop Mega Man into a hole. If Tengu Man
shouts out "Here we go!" he'll swoop down and try to hit you, quickly jump over
him, once he flies up out of the screen move to the left or right as Tengu Man
will drop straight down from the top of the screen. You should be able to hit
him with charged shots of the Mega Buster when he flies low, but wait until he
performs his dive attack before using a special weapon. When he drops down out
of the sky and lands, hit him with the Ice Wave and he'll become stuck in the
ice. Blast away with the Mega Buster to inflict more damage before he breaks
free. Wait until he performs the dive attack before firing again with the Ice
Wave. Keep dodging his fast attacks and you should finish him off fairly
quickly.
Weakness: Ice Wave.
Weapon Received: Tornado Hold.
Duo:
Guide:
You'll confront Duo in the rocky stage after defeating the first four bosses.
He'll argue with Mega Man first about not interfering with his mission before he
attacks. You'll have to be very quick to avoid Duo, as his attacks are fast and
deadly. If he hovers above the ground while a huge energy vortex appears below
him, he'll become a flaming blue ball that'll bounce around the room, try your
best to slide under him as he bounces around. Try to stay away from him, as if
Duo charges up energy in his arm, he'll dash forward with a punch attack and
slam the ground with his fist. He might also charge forward and punch the ground
without warning, try to jump over him as he passes. Use charged shots from the
Mega Buster to damage him, also use the Mega Ball for extra help. Duo won't have
a visible health bar, so you'll just have to hold out while continuously
damaging him. Eventually Duo will land and the battle will end while the next
cutscene begins.
Weakness: Mega Buster.
Search Man:
Guide:
Search Man will be using a lot of firepower during this battle so you'll have to
move quickly to dodge his attacks. Once he comes out from his hiding place
behind the bush he'll attack. If he jumps up out of the screen, three large
bushes will appear on the screen and Search Man will be hiding behind one. Two
large red crosshairs will appear on the corners of the screen and move downward
to try and target Mega Man. Try to slide away from them when the move downward
as if they hit you, Search Man will appear and fire out several missiles that
will home in on you. If you have the Flame Sword weapon, you can destroy the
bushes to reveal Search Man while he's hiding. Once he reappears he might jump
up and fire out four blue missiles. Each one will drop down around the screen,
try to stay between them to avoid being hit. Search Man might also jump up and
release a small razor blade that'll bounce around the room in a downward
fashion, blast it before it hits Mega Man. He might also land on the ground and
release a barrage of missiles at you, try your best to dodge them while
returning fire at him. Search Man's weakness is the Flame Sword, but if you
don't have it, use charged shots from the Mega Buster instead. Avoid his attacks
as best you can and attack him whenever he's visible.
Weakness: Flame Sword.
Weapon Received: Homing Sniper.
Astro Man:
Guide:
Astro Man will be teleporting around often during this battle, so you'll find it
difficult to hit him successfully. Once the background of the room changes he'll
make his entrance before attacking. He'll start by sending out his two smaller
floating balls which will fly around the room while firing small energy balls at
you, stay in the corner to avoid the balls and jump up or slide around when the
energy balls appear. Try to stay at the sides of the screen as Astro Man will
often fly around in an attempt to crush Mega Man. Be very careful if Astro Man
begins to frantically teleport around the room, as he'll shout out "Astro
Crush!" followed by a huge barrage of meteors from above, try to stay in the
corners of the screen to avoid taking damage. Use the Homing Sniper to defeat
Astro Man. Whenever he's not teleporting, try to stay close as when you fire the
weapon the missile might target one of the floating balls instead of Astro Man.
Once you manage to hit him, jump up just as he recovers and fire again, if you
keep this pattern up you'll be able to defeat him quite easily without worry of
taking damage.
Weakness: Homing Sniper.
Weapon Received: Astro Crush.
Aqua Man:
Guide:
Aqua Man will make his grand entrance into the room before attacking. He'll be
using a load of water attacks which involve using the water below the platform
you're standing on, so you'll have to be quick to avoid taking damage. He'll
begin by jumping around the room, try to avoid being squashed by him. If he
draws up water from below and calls out "Water Cannon!" he'll fire out the water
straight at you, but the beam will break and leave a gap as it comes towards
you, try to stay within the gap to avoid being hit. If part of the water below
begins to churn, stay away from it as a huge water pillar will shoot up before
blowing into smaller water bubbles. If Aqua Man shouts "Water Balloon!" he'll
fire out a multitude of water bubbles from his arm cannon, they'll float up and
drop down so try to slide under them to avoid taking damage. To defeat Aqua Man,
use the Astro Crush. Each time you call down the huge meteors, Aqua Man will
take heavy damage and fall over to the corner of the room. Quickly blast away at
him with the Mega Buster before he recovers. If you run out of energy for the
Astro Crush, just finish him off with charged shots.
Weakness: Astro Crush.
Weapon Received: Water Balloon.
Sword Man:
Guide:
Sword Man will be using some tough attack patterns during this battle, you'll
have to be fast to avoid his sword attacks. Sword Man will drop into the room
encased in a large statue before breaking out to attack. If Sword Man jumps over
to a corner of the screen, quickly slide towards him as a huge statue will drop
down from above. If he readies himself, he'll charge forward while detaching his
upper body. He'll fly up out of the screen while his legs charge forward, jump
over them as they pass. Just after his upper body returns, stand back as he'll
swing out a large slash attack with his sword. If he shouts "Fire Slash!" his
upper body will begin to spin around while sending out fire around himself, when
the upper body flies towards you slide under it, the body will then stick to the
opposite wall before returning to the legs, slide under him again when he moves
back. If Sword Man stabs his sword into the ground, he'll create a massive fire
shield around himself which you can't penetrate, stand well back until it
disappears. Use the Water Balloon to defeat Sword Man. You'll have to hit his
upper body, so jump up as you fire so that the bubble can hit him successfully.
Don't bother trying to attack his legs as they're invincible. You should be able
to break through his fire barrier with the Water Balloon, just try to avoid his
other attacks as best you can and fire at him whenever he's open for attack.
Weakness: Water Balloon.
Weapon Received: Flame Sword.
Penguin Bell:
Guide:
You'll encounter this boss at the end of the first Dr. Wily stage. This boss
consists of four separate parts, as large bell-shaped objects hanging from the
ceiling. The large bell with the penguin sitting on top is the main part and the
weak point for the entire machine. As the four bells come down, the penguin bell
will drop out a smaller version of itself that will crawl along the ground,
blast away at it before it hits Mega Man. After the penguin bell goes back up
the other three bells will lower down and fire out either round bombs or
missiles, quickly blast away at them to destroy them and their projectiles. To
defeat this boss, use the Mega Ball. You'll need to hit the penguin bell with
the Mega Ball, so when all four bells come down, if the penguin bell is up
against a wall, stand against the opposite wall and move towards the penguin
bell until you're standing below the first wall pylon separating the bells. Kick
the Mega Ball over at the penguin and if you aimed it correctly, it'll bounce up
into the penguin's chamber and strike the bottom of it, causing damage. Once the
penguin retreats, blast the other bells that drop down with the Mega Buster. If
the penguin appears in one of the inner chambers, stand directly under it and
kick the Mega Ball towards the closest wall, it'll bounce off and travel up the
chamber to hit the penguin. Keep this attack pattern up, but once half of it's
health is gone, a new bell will appear, one similar to the penguin but it'll
have a skull on the front, make sure you don't hit this one as it'll drop down a
huge energy wave which is almost impossible to avoid. Once you manage to destroy
it you'll move on to the second Dr. Wily stage.
Weakness: Mega Ball.
Fighter Airship:
Guide:
You'll be battling this boss while riding atop the Rush Jet, so it'll be very
handy to have Auto, Beat or Eddie to help you out here. Once the ship appears
from below it'll attack. If the wings spin around it'll open up part of the wing
section, if the vertical wings open and small energy balls charge up within the
wings, they'll fire out energy beams straight across the screen, try to stay
between them to avoid taking damage. If flashing panels appear on the wings,
missiles will come flying out at you, try to dodge them as best you can. As the
ship flies about the head might fire out a barrage of pink floating mines, the
mines will disappear off the screen and then come floating back towards you,
quickly blast them all before any come in contact. If the rear horizontal wings
open up, stay back from them as six missiles will fire out up and down the
screen. If all four wings open up the ship will fly back towards you, stay low
on the screen to avoid being hit. To defeat this boss, use the Astro Crush.
It'll help here if you've got the Energy Saver item as you'll have two extra
shots than before, and remember that you can only attack the ship when the wings
open up. When the wings open, fire the weapon and you should cause heavy damage
to the ship. Use the Mega Buster to fire at the wings to deal out more damage.
Once the ship runs out of energy all four wings will blow off and the ship will
explode, allowing you access to the third Dr. Wily stage.
Weakness: Astro Crush.
Bass & Treble:
Guide:
You'll confront Bass & Treble halfway through the third Dr. Wily Stage. After
taunting Mega Man he'll summon down an Evil Energy capsule before using it to
merge with Treble. He'll then reappear as a new form, with a large jetpack on.
Bass will be flying around for most of the battle, so you'll have to wait for
him to lower down before you can hit him. He'll be using some strong attacks so
you'll need to be quick to dodge them. If Bass charges up a load of energy and
fires up two massive energy balls into the air, two huge rounds of energy bolts
will come flying down from the top of the screen. Stand close to a wall, then
once the first round comes down slide into the wall, then the second round will
miss you once it comes down. If he charges up energy and lands, he'll fire out
two energy balls at Mega Man, jump over both of them to dodge them easily. If
Bass moves up a little and charges up huge energy again, he'll fly out of the
screen and dive back down in one of the corners, he'll then extend an energy
beam down to the ground and will zoom across the screen, quickly dash to the
opposite wall to dodge the beam. Use charged shots to damage Bass, but you can
also use weapons such as the Flash Bomb and Astro Crush to cause multiple
damage. Keep dodging his attacks and don't stop attacking whenever he's open.
Once you defeat Bass he'll retreat and you can continue on to the final boss of
this stage.
Weakness: Mega Buster.
Green Slime:
Guide:
You'll encounter the Green Slime boss (aka Shadow Devil, Cyclops) at the end of
the third Dr. Wily stage. As with the previous Mega Man games that feature this
boss, you'll have to wait for the eye to be exposed before you can damage the
main body. Once you enter the room the slime will come up out of the floor and
the eye will come down to form the main body. Once the main body forms together
it'll remain frozen for a few seconds, then once the eye sparkles it'll break
apart. The eye will leave while the slime falls to the floor. It'll have
different forms of attacks now, one where the slime balls will stack on top of
each other and begin to slide across the room. You'll have to jump over and
slide under the blobs as they move, but you shouldn't have too much trouble
avoiding them. The slime might also sink down into the floor, the slime will
then either come back up to form the main body somewhere else, or it could
perform one of two attacks. If the slime spreads out to fill the entire floor,
the eye will return and will follow Mega Man. The eye will call up green spikes
from the slime so you'll have to keep sliding about to dodge them. If the slime
begins to churn at one end of the room instead, the eye will cause the slime to
fly across the room creating a large tunnel, slide about and stay out from
inside it to avoid taking damage. You'll only be able to attack this boss when
the eye is open while the main body is active. Once the eye comes down and
enters the body, use the Mega Buster to break open a hole in the side of the
body to have a clear shot at the eye, but you can also use the Flash Bomb to
break open the slime easily. Once the hole completely opens, quickly press Start
and switch to the Thunder Claw (or press R1 to switch to it). Fire it into the
eye to cause heavy damage. After a few seconds the slime will close and the eye
will leave. The body will break up and the slime will perform one of the main
attacks again. Hold out each time the slime attacks you, and remember to use the
Flash Bomb and Thunder Claw to greatly damage the eye. Once the eye explodes the
slime will break apart and you'll move on to the final Dr. Wily stage.
Weakness: Flash Bomb/Thunder Claw.
Dr Wily Part 1:
Guide:
After Duo and Protoman save Mega Man from Wily's Evil Energy barrier, you'll
begin the final battle against Wily's new skull ships. He'll be tough to beat,
you'll need to be fast to avoid his multitude of weaponry. His first form will
be using two main forms to attack you with, the large buzz-saw weapon on the
side of the ship and the large cannon mounted inside the mouth of the front
skull. Wily won't move around much so you shouldn't have trouble hitting him. If
the buzz-saw begins to spin, it'll detach itself and move towards you, ether by
bouncing across the room or just flying across the floor. If it bounces slide
under it as it passes, otherwise just jump over it if slides across the floor,
but be careful as it'll return after a few seconds. The buzz-saw might also
become a laser cannon that will fire out several small energy balls straight
ahead, try your best to dodge them as they'll be following diagonal paths as
well as going straight ahead. The cannon might also fire out a large purple
energy ball straight up, if it does quickly move to the side as the ball will
come straight down on top of Mega Man, once it lands quickly jump up as two
smaller energy balls will shoot out along the floor. If the skull mouth opens
and begins to charge up energy, after a few seconds it'll fire out a large
energy beam straight ahead which is near-impossible to avoid, so quickly fire
away at the mouth so that it closes and doesn't fire. You can use the Mega
Buster to hit the top part of the head to damage the ship, but the Flame Sword
will help cause further damage, you can also use it to close the skull's mouth
whenever it opens. Dr. Wily's first form will be pretty tough to beat, but once
you get the hang of his attack patterns you should be able to beat him. Try not
to take too much damage during this part of the battle, then once you destroy
the ship Wily will attack in his smaller pod.
Weakness: Flame Sword.
Dr Wily Part 2:
Guide:
Dr. Wily's final pod-ship form will be much tougher to beat than his previous
form. He'll be floating around the screen in his pod and will teleport around
the room often. If you've taken a lot of damage from his previous form, use the
Rush Health ability to grab some life and weapon energy capsules that Rush will
drop. Whenever he reappears he'll fire out different kinds of attacks in the
form of purple energy balls. If the energy balls appear surrounding him, they'll
fly out in a circular pattern towards the edges of the screen, stay on the edge
of the screen and jump up as the balls fly out to dodge them. If the four balls
appear above and below Wily, they'll move three times towards Mega Man, Each
time they move they'll pause, stay under Wily, when they first move slide to the
left or right, then jump up when they move again so that they fly under Mega Man
to avoid taking damage. If Wily fires two large purple balls straight up out of
the screen, quickly move to the left or right as they'll come straight down on
top of Mega Man, then jump up to avoid the energy balls they send out along the
ground when they land. He might also send out four energy balls that will move
out in a circular path, stay close to the corners of the screen to avoid being
hit. You'll have to practice a lot to be able to dodge his attacks successfully,
and remember to use charged shots on the pod whenever he flies low enough. You
can also use the Flash Bomb to deal out more damage, just keep firing at him
whenever he appears. Dr. Wily will be very difficult to beat, but once you
manage to take him down, sit back and enjoy the entertaining finale.
Weakness: Flash Bomb.

Rush Power Ups:
The Rush items will harness Rush's abilities and allow him to assist Mega Man in
many areas of the game. Each Rush ability is gained once you defeat certain
mini-bosses of some stages. Each ability is limited and can only be used once in
the current stage Mega Man is in. Select the desired Rush ability from the item
sub-screen to use it.
Rush Bike:
The
Rush Bike ability is gained once you defeat the mini-boss of Grenade Man's
stage. This ability will cause Rush to teleport in and transform himself in to a
motorbike which Mega Man can ride on. While aboard the bike, Mega Man will be
invincible but any enemies that come in contact will damage the bike and shorten
the time limit for the bike. You can fire out small missiles from Rush's head,
and you can also jump around while on the bike. To dismount, press jump and up
together, once you jump off Rush will teleport out.
Rush Item:
The
Rush Item ability is gained once you defeat the mini-boss in Clown Man's stage.
This ability will call down Rush, once he appears his back will open and an item
will pop out. The item could be of any kind, including life or weapon capsules,
and sometimes could be an extra life. Be careful though as sometimes instead of
giving you an item, Rush might just lie down and fall asleep before teleporting
out, leaving you empty handed.
Rush Bomber:
The
Rush Bomber is gained once you defeat the mini-boss in Sword Man's stage. This
ability will allow Rush to fly around back and forth across the screen while
dropping down a load of bombs. The bombs will rain down and heavily damage or
destroy any enemies they strike, very useful when a lot of enemies are
surrounding Mega Man.
Rush Health:
The
Rush Health ability is gained once you defeat the mini-boss in Aqua Man's stage.
This ability will cause Rush to fly back and forth across the screen, but unlike
the Rush Bomber, this time he'll drop down a multitude of life and weapon refill
capsules. Try to make sure that there aren't any holes in the ground around Mega
Man, as Rush will drop down the items anywhere, so you'll have to try to grab as
many of them as possible before Rush leaves.
Mega Buster:

You'll
have the Mega Buster from the start of the game as Mega Man's primary weapon.
Apart from the deadly yellow energy bolts it fires, charging up the weapon with
fire will cause it to release a much more powerful energy blast, capable of
either destroying or heavily damaging most enemies encountered in the game. Keep
in mind that you can still use the Mega Buster while having one of the special
weapons equipped.
Mega Ball:

You'll
receive the Mega Ball shortly into the first stage of the game, once received
you can then use it from then on. This weapon has multiple functions, once fired
Mega Man will create a small purple ball which he can use as a weapon or as an
item. Once the ball is active, stand next to it and press fire, Mega Man will
then kick the ball forward and it'll fly about, bouncing off any walls or
ceilings. The ball can also be used to stand on to reach higher platforms, while
moving left or right, jump up and fire the ball at the peak of the jump. Quickly
press jump and you should jump up off the ball, increasing Mega Man's jump
height.
Thunder Claw:

The
Thunder Claw is gained once you defeat Clown Man. This weapon will fire out a
long electrical beam that once discharged, any enemies in it's path will be
either heavily damaged or destroyed. This weapon can also be used as a grapple
beam on the small silver and gold hooks found throughout the game. Fire the beam
at a hook and Mega Man will swing around below the hook, avoiding any danger
below.
Flash Bomb:

The
Flash Bomb is gained after Grenade Man is defeated. This weapon will fire out a
small grenade bomb, once it strikes a wall or enemy, it'll explode and release a
large round of explosions. Anything caught within the blast will be destroyed or
heavily damaged. The explosion caused by the bomb can also light up dark areas
for a few seconds.
Ice Wave:

The
Ice Wave is gained once you defeat Frost Man. This weapon will fire out a small
ice projectile which will drop straight down. Once it lands on the floor it'll
fly forward while creating large ice spikes along the ground. Anything caught
within the spikes will be frozen or heavily damaged. You can also use this
weapon to temporarily freeze fire and lava areas in certain stages.
Tornado Hold:

The
Tornado Hold is gained once Tengu Man is defeated. This weapon will cause Mega
Man to fire out a small whirling disk that will fly out a short distance and
land on the ground. Once it lands it'll release a large vertical tornado,
anything caught within the vortex will take heavy damage. This weapon can also
be used to push objects up the screen, and Mega Man can float up the vortex if
he stands within it.
Homing Sniper:

The
Homing Sniper is gained after Search Man is defeated. This weapon will fire out
a small missile which will fly straight ahead until it strikes something, unless
an enemy is nearby. If an enemy is on-screen, the missile will target it and
home-in on the target until it strikes the enemy. Anything hit by the missile
will take heavy damage or be destroyed.
Astro Crush:

The
Astro Crush is gained once you defeat Astro Man. This weapon will cause Mega Man
to summon down huge purple meteors which will rain down all over the screen. Any
enemies on screen will be either destroyed or heavily damaged. This weapon can
also be used to break open barriers in certain stages of the game.
Water Balloon:

The
Water Balloon is gained once Aqua Man is defeated. This weapon will fire out a
small water bubble which will fly forward over a long distance before falling
down to the ground. Anything caught in the bubble's path will take heavy damage
or be destroyed.
Flame Sword:

The
Flame Sword is gained once you defeat Sword Man. This weapon will cause Mega Man
to swing out a large fire sword, anything caught within the flames will become
engulfed in fire and will be either destroyed or take heavy damage. You can also
use this weapon to destroy certain barriers and objects in some stages.
Bolts Locations:
There are 40 bolts hidden throughout all the stages of the game (except the Dr.
Wily stages) and are needed if you want to create new items at Dr. Light's lab.
Listed below are the locations of all the bolts.
Intro Stage:
- About halfway through this stage you'll come across a hermit crab sitting atop
a thin platform with a button behind it. Shoot the crab so that it drops down
onto the button. A large elevator will rise up out of the ground to the left of
the button, head inside and drop down into the water. Swim down past the crabs
and hit the button below to open up the doors. Head through and swim up the next
chamber. Once at the top, go up to the wall on the left and walk straight
through it. Go into the next room to find the bolt.
- Once again down in the secret water chambers, go to the area where the two
chains with platforms are moving up and down. Swim over to the downward-moving
chain and swim down below the hole at the bottom. You'll enter a small new area
and you should spot the bolt just inside a small alcove.
- In the water chamber below the main stage, just before you reach the elevator
that takes you back up, you'll find the bolt sitting on the ground in plain
view.
Clown Man Stage:
- The first bolt is near the beginning of this stage, at the end of the first
area filled with toys, you'll find a large hole leading down. On the other side
of the hole the bolt is waiting, you'll need to use the Rush Bike ability to
jump over to reach the bolt.
- Just after the continue point, you'll find the bolt sitting behind one of the
green shielded robots, time it right so that you don't fall below one of the
skull blocks.
- In the large room with the skull elevators, use the Mega Ball jump to reach
the one on the far left of the room. Travel up to find a large green box
encasing a bolt on the left. Use the Flame Sword to blow open the box to reach
the bolt.
- In the same room as the previous bolt, travel over to the right side of the
upper part of the room, the bolt will be waiting in the top right corner.
- The final bolt is below the area where the question mark blocks are. When you
reach the level with five question mark blocks, stand on the second one from the
left wall to go down to where the bolt is, then use the Mega Ball jump to reach
it.
Grenade Man Stage:
- The first bolt is in the room with the large green and silver blocks. When you
enter the room, destroy the first block in front of you and slide underneath it.
Destroy the next one on the right and drop down. Destroy the next two blocks on
the left and drop down. Blast the one on the right, then destroy the next one on
the right supporting a silver block. Once the block falls, head right and
destroy the next two blocks supporting another silver block. Use the Mega Ball
jump to reach the bolt up on the platform ahead.
- The second bolt is lying atop one of the platforms just ahead of the previous
bolt, as you go over the time bombs floating in the air, you'll easily spot this
one waiting on a platform.
- The third bolt is just after the continue point beyond the swinging hammers.
You should spot the bolt concealed below a platform, use the Flame Sword to
ignite the fuse on the right to blow open the blocks to reach the bolt.
- The next bolt is lying atop one of the floating dynamite blocks over the large
hole where the fire robots drop down. You'll have to be very quick to grab it
before the blocks explode.
- The final bolt is just at the end of the dynamite block area just after the
ladder, quickly grab it and jump up to the ladder before the blocks explode.
Frost Man Stage:
- In the snowboarding area, you'll eventually find a platform above in one of
the glassed areas. Jump up onto the platform and slide to the right to find the
bolt on the other side.
- Again in the first snowboard area, you'll eventually reach a part where you'll
jump across two sections with two falling blocks each. Instead of jumping off
the second group, drop down and you'll land on a lower platform where the bolt
is waiting.
- You'll spot this next one near one of the flying whale robots after the
continue point. Use the Mega Ball jump to easily reach it.
- In the area with the flying whales, you'll eventually spot a bolt enclosed by
platforms and the ice-pushing machines. You'll need to go over to the far right
of the bolt to find an ice-block standing in front of an ice-machine. Use the
Mega Ball jump to reach it, then push the button on the machine, then quickly
step onto the ice block, you'll then fly over to the ice block covering the bolt
and the blocks will blow each other apart.
- After the open area with the flying whales you'll reach an indoor area with a
large ice sheet on the floor. Use the Astro Crush to blow it open to reach the
bolt below.
- In the same tower as the previous bolt, further up you'll find the bolt
encased in a crumbling ice block. Use the Flash Bomb to blow open the ice block
to get the bolt.
Tengu Man Stage:
- You'll eventually spot the bolt up on a floating platform near the beginning
of the stage. Use the blowing wind to propel Mega Man up and use the purple
platforms that rise from below to reach the bolt.
- The second bolt is hidden in a panel just before the energy cannon in the
flying ship. While riding on Rush, you'll spot a panel with an image of a bolt
on it. Use the Astro Crush and Homing Sniper to blast open the panel to reveal
the bolt.
- After destroying the energy cannon aboard the ship, you'll spot the bolt lying
on the ground a little further on.
- Just before reaching Tengu Man's room, the bolt will be on a low lying
floating platform. You should spot it easily, use the purple platforms that rise
from below to time your jumps with the wind to reach the bolt.
Duo Stage:
- The first bolt is hidden just above the first room inside the cave entrance.
When you enter the cave at the beginning of the stage, you should spot a ladder
leading up just above the purple cannons. Destroy the cannons and use the Mega
Ball jump or the Tornado Hold to reach the ladder. Climb up, destroy all the
enemies on the left and jump up the platforms to reach the bolt.
- The second bolt is also in the secret area up the ladder near the start of the
stage. Once at the top of the ladder, head right and you'll enter a room lined
with spikes. You should spot the bolt sitting in the corner atop a platform,
take out the Thunder Claw and jump up to the platform to the left of the spikes.
Grab onto the hook above the spikes with the Thunder Claw and Mega Man will
swing over to the bolt. Use the same trick with the Thunder Claw to get back
across safely.
Search Man Stage:
- In the large open area near the beginning with the metal hooks in the air,
drop down below to where all the jumping robots are. Head right, then slide
under the small opening and walk over to the right to find the bolt hidden
behind the foreground.
- In the large open area within the mountain where all the floating spike balls
are, go up to the top of the area and you should spot metal hooks high up in the
air. Stand on the edge of the platform which had the two metools on it, then use
the Mega Ball jump or Tornado Hold and go up as far as you can to the right. At
the peak of the jump, press Start and switch to the Thunder Claw. Quickly fire
at the hook to grab it, then wait for Mega Man to swing around to the next one,
as soon as he releases the beam press fire again to swing to the next hook. Keep
going until you reach a ladder, then climb up to find the bolt.
- In the large room with all the floating spiked balls, go down the lower path
ahead until you come across a large group of the electric spiked thorns. Destroy
them with the Flame Sword to reach the bolt a little further ahead.
- Further on from the previous bolt, when you reach the large bed of spikes with
the metal hook above them, grab the hook and quickly grab onto the next one on
the left to reach the bolt.
Astro Man Stage:
- The first bolt is found in the first looping maze room. You'll need to find a
red switch to release the wall barrier blocking the bolt before you can reach
it.
- In the sinking tower, you'll easily spot this bolt on the way up, quickly
slide under the wall to reach it and then slide back out to avoid the hole
below.
- In the second open area after the first looping room, you should spot the bolt
lying next to a large vertical wall. Drop down to reach it, then use the
vanishing platforms to get above the wall.
- The final bolt is hidden in the second looping maze room. You should find it
along the way while releasing the wall barriers to open up the teleport pad.
Aqua Man Stage:
- Just after the continue point, you'll spot a damaged ceiling above while
underwater where two hermit crabs are swimming. Use the Astro Crush to blow open
the ceiling to reach the bolt above.
- In the large room full of spiked balls just after the previous bolt, stay on
the ground level and go over to the right corner. Use the Tornado Hold to move
the ball blocking the narrow path, then slide under to find the bolt in a small
room.
- At the very top of the large water chamber full of spiked balls, go right up
to the top and head through the door on the right corner of the room. Head down
the next shaft and stay on the left side of the room, you'll eventually land on
a platform with a life and weapon energy refill capsule as well as the bolt.
- If you blew open the ceiling for the first bolt, the water level will have
risen up in the next large room, swim across the bed of spikes at the top of the
ladder, head through the door and go through the next spike-filled tunnel. Drop
down the large shaft in the next room while staying on the left side of the
shaft and you should eventually land on a platform with the bolt waiting on top.
Sword Man Stage:
- In the third room of the Thunder Claw room inside the first area of this
stage, you'll easily spot the bolt lying just below the entrance near a fire
robot. Quickly grab the bolt and move on before the rotating spikes move down
too far from above.
- In the first room of the darkened area where you can use the Flash Bomb to
light up the rooms, you'll easily spot this bolt lying in a small pit just
ahead.
- The final bolt is hidden near the end of the stage, once you reach the blue
platform that automatically takes you down the lava river, just before the end
you'll spot a large brown wall with an image of the Flash Bomb on it, so use the
Flash Bomb to blow it open. Climb up the revealed ladder to find the bolt.
Ending:
The actual ending of the game is done through an animated cut scene, of course.
Wily’s fortress has exploded and Mega Man is found lying unconscious on the
barren ground. Duo finds him and discovers that Mega Man has been infected by
the dark energy the two have been battling. But, Mega Man’s mind possesses
enough light that, with Duo’s help, he overcomes the poison, and the dark energy
dissapates.
At this moment Proto Man dashes onto the scene. “Mega Man! What happened to
him?” he gasps.
Duo explains. He also asks Proto Man do to him a favor.
Mega Man awakens in Dr. Light’s laboratory. (The animation of Roll hugging him
was really nicely done, by the way.) When Mega Man is told that Duo had saved
him, he leaves the lab to stand by himself on a cliff. His thoughts of Duo are
interrupted by Proto Man’s voice coming from behind him. Mega Man turns.
Proto Man is standing in a tree, as is typical of this guy. He tells Mega Man
what Duo had told him, and mentions that Duo had added, “Thank you.”
“Duo. Thank you,” Mega Man echoes.
The ending goes from here into the credits, which are pretty lame compared to
the rest of the game. Just a billboard with the names, and images of the Robot
Master contest entries that were used for the game. The Met walking around at
the bottom is about the only entertainment. At least the Japanese version had
two different music here.
